Courtney Herring
Lead Director, Government Affairs, CVS Health
Courtney Herring is Lead Director of Government Affairs with CVS Health. In this role, she oversees the lobbying, advocacy, regulatory and issue management work for all CVS Health business units in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Puerto Rico. Courtney has been in her role at CVS Health for eight and a half years and has covered 14 states during her tenure.
Prior to joining CVS Health in 2014, Courtney was the Director of Business Advocacy and Vice President of Public Policy and Regionalism at two Chambers of Commerce where she led government affairs and grassroots strategy. She began her career in the South Carolina House of Representatives, worked for Congressman Joe Wilson and as a junior lobbyist for former Democratic National Committee Chairman Don Fowler at Fowler Communications, Inc.
Courtney is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Public Relations and Political Science, Leadership Columbia and the United Way’s Blueprint for Leadership. She was a participant in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Management (IOM) leadership program and currently serves as a board member for Alabama Retail, South Carolina Retail Association, North Carolina Retail Merchants Association, the NC Health Plans Association and SC Alliance of Health Plans.
Courtney has volunteered for the United Way, the American Red Cross, the Dee Norton’s Lowcountry Children Center, served as an undergraduate mentor for the USC School of Journalism, and supporter of non-profits driving research of children’s diseases including SMA and cancer.
Courtney resides in Charleston, South Carolina, with her husband David and two daughters Grace Ritter and Scottie. She is an avid traveler, including international missions, a dog lover, foodie, prefers afternoons on the water and enjoys college football.
